CSA Engineering AG at Swiss Testing Day 2025
On April 3, 2025, QA professionals, software developers, and technology experts gathered at the impressive StageOne Event Hall in Zurich for Swiss Testing Day 2025, one of the most important conferences in the industry.
The event not only provided a platform to exchange ideas on the latest trends in AI-supported testing, automation, and cloud technologies, but also offered an opportunity to connect with the Swiss testing community.
Here's a look back at a day full of exciting discussions and valuable insights.
Quality as the Foundation for Success
A frequently discussed topic was the importance of a quality-focused company culture – something that goes beyond just a technical necessity. Quality is increasingly seen as a strategic success factor that can make the difference between a successful product and a failure. However, according to some speakers, it is still difficult in certain projects to justify the considerable effort that comprehensive quality assurance requires.
According to a talk titled “Testing when nobody wants you”, the only approach left in particularly difficult situations is: “let them crash.” The idea is to sit back and watch things unfold from a distance. It is highly likely that errors will emerge at a later stage, and only then will those involved realize that proper testing could have prevented them.
Support in Testing Through Artificial Intelligence
So-called generative artificial intelligence, which can create texts or code based on existing data and patterns, is already being used in many companies to quickly produce high-quality content. In the field of software testing, this technology can also be applied profitably.
For example, AI can be used to generate test cases and test data based on requirement specifications. In combination with various tools, AI can also simulate user interactions, such as verifying user interfaces. Especially when paired with automation, this can save a significant amount of resources.
Let the Organization Test Alongside
Another interesting presentation reported on the go-live of a new security feature. During a cross-departmental test session, employees involved in the actual operations were invited to test the feature’s behavior under realistic conditions. The session began at midnight and went smoothly except for one issue. To resolve a malfunction, an on-call employee had to restart a subsystem. Several calls to the on-call number went unanswered, as did attempts to contact backups and supervisors. Just before operations were set to resume, the on-call staff member was finally reached and the subsystem was restored to working condition.
This session made it clear that it is worthwhile not only to test hardware and software solutions but also to include organizational processes and conduct test cases beyond one’s own department.
Conclusion
For the Consulting & Testing Team at CSA Engineering AG, Swiss Testing Day 2025 was a valuable opportunity to engage with experts and gain new inspiration for their work in software quality assurance.
The numerous presentations were highly informative, and the excellent organization made the event a complete success.
